Greg Norman Says Tiger Woods Turned Down A $700-800M Saudi Offer To Play LIV Golf Series | USA NEWS SYDERS

According to Greg Norman, Tiger Woods rejected an offer from the Saudi-funded LIV Golf series that was worth "somewhere in the neighborhood" of $700 million to $800 million.

During an interview on Fox News with Tucker Carlson on Monday night, Norman reiterated the information that he provided to the Washington Post for a story that was published approximately two months ago. During the month of June, Norman gave an interview to the Post in which he described the offer as "mind-blowingly enormous; we're talking high nine digits."

Since the latter part of the previous year, Woods has been an outspoken critic of LIV Golf. At the British Open, he stated that players who accepted money from the Saudi sovereign wealth fund had "turned their back" on the PGA Tour, the organization that was responsible for making them famous.

When exactly Woods was presented with an offer is unknown at this time.

"Before I became CEO, that number was available to the public. Yes, everyone is aware of that particular number "This was discussed by Norman during an interview with Fox News that took place on Sunday at Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump National was the location of the third LIV Golf Invitational.

The explanation that Norman provided was as follows: "And, look, Tiger is a needle-mover, and you have to look at the best of the best." "Therefore, they made contact with Tiger prior to my becoming CEO. Therefore, it's safe to say that number was in the vicinity."

Several news outlets in the United Kingdom have reported that Phil Mickelson was awarded a signing bonus of two hundred and fifty million dollars, while Dustin Johnson was awarded a signing bonus of one hundred and fifty million dollars. The prize money for each event is $25 million, and there is no cut made between the 48-man fields that compete over 54 holes. Norman has revealed that he will compete in 14 tournaments during the 2019 season.

Only one player from LIV Golf is currently ranked in the top 20 in the world, and his name is Johnson (No. 18).

The funding source has prompted harsh criticism of both the series and the players who have enlisted in it, as it is seen as an attempt to divert attention away from its record regarding human rights and links to the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11.

When asked about the reason behind the uproar that his rival tour has caused among golf fans in the United States, Norman responded, "I don't know."

"I really couldn't care less," Norman stated. "I just love the game so much, and I want to grow the game of golf, and we at LIV see that opportunity not just for men, but for women as well," she said. "I just want more and more people to be able to play."

During the month that the FedEx Cup playoffs take place on the PGA Tour, the LIV Golf Invitational is on hiatus. It will resume over the Labor Day weekend approximately an hour west of Boston, and then it will move on to the suburbs of Chicago two weeks after that.
